I will use this old European fable to illustrate this point: Once, there lived a man of many Woes! His life was continuously plagued with every sort of trial and trouble, very seldom did he ever find peace anywhere in his days. He was bitter that he had ever been born, sorry that he ever took a wife and unhappy over his grievous children. One burdensome day while yet far from home, he was staggering under another heavy load of wood, when despair finally over took his soul. As he grew weary under the heavy load, his heart sank in desperation from all his days of hardship, and so threw his heavy load down to the ground! He then cried out, "Oh DEATH, please come quickly and take me now!" Immediately, there appeared the Angel of DEATH itself! It was more than frightening, it was beyond all that the man of woes ever thought it might be. Then it began to walk towards him and as it drew near unto him, IT asked him in its deep rumbling voice, "Why have you beckoned me here this day?" In utter astonishment and in the most terrifying moment of his life, the man of many Woe's could only think of one thing to say…"I…I…I, well, au, needed someone to help place my heavy load back up onto my back, so I can hurry home to my lovely wife and beautiful family!" No matter how grievous life might seem, man will always prefer hardships rather than DEATH! Oh, how quickly our perspective changes when DEATH draws close and makes a near approach to our meager existence, even if our days be burdensome and full of Woe! Do not wish for worse or it might just hear you and SHOW UP ON THE SCENE! Contact author at: |
