The first chief soon designed a special golden mask which would encompass the horses entire head, and then plated its hooves with the finest pounded silver. As time went on the other leaders of the tribe also began to pay homage to the horse by decorating it with assorted jewels of rare quality. In time its legs were covered with a silver armor, embedded with jewels and many rubies. Then a most beautiful blanket of weaved golden threads and the rarest silks were wrapped and bound around its body. Now as time passed by, the simple beauty of the exceptional horse was soon hidden under many extravagant decorations. And at every opportunity, each family of the tribe continued to ad layers unto the mask of offered adornments. Eventually, a strange thing began to happen; the horse became so weighted down it was barely able to move, but this did not seem to bother or worry those who loved the White Horse and their adoration's went on. Then in time, within the fury of one stormy night, without the knowledge of the sleeping village, the Beautiful White Horse made its escape from under all its many decorations. When the storm had passed, all seemed normal but no one realized or could guess of the White Horses departure. Over time by the winds and storms the empty space under the layers of assorted decorations filled in with particles of dust and slowly solidified into a rock. But the form of the horse which had been molded by the hundreds of decorations, unsuspectingly stood there in its place. Years went by, generations came and went and the form of the White Horse became the tribes god! Thereafter, if anyone dared question or would speak out about the absence of the living White Horse, or how it might have escaped the tribes ritualistic embellishments, that "unbeliever" was put to death. Then on one of those rare days in passing time, after many battles over the White Horse, and a multitude of tribesmen had already been put to death, a great earthquake shook the village and toppled the statue! By its tremendous weight it could no longer stand but fell and crashed into pieces and returned back to dust and so it was! In the aftermath of disaster everyone began fighting over the dust and pieces, and each family now worshipped their tiny portion of what they thought was their beloved Horse, but the Living White Horse had long since departed! The White Horse had chosen to hide itself and now dwelled in and among the many mountain Storms. Rarely would it show itself but only now and then did it appear within the Lightening, which allowed the White Horse to gallop freely among all the high mountain villages! It was now free, no man could own it! ****** This of course is an analogy, of how men can take a beautiful gift and destroy it with their desire to possess a THING!! A parable on how men and nations can take an IDEAL and make it into something it was never intended to be! Men have spent far too much of history decorating what was once a Living Truth to the point there is no life or substance remaining within what was once FREE and TRULY VALUABLE! Contact Author at: |

Once long ago, in the middle of one dark and stormy night from out of the lightening and wind, there appeared a very rugged but beautiful White Horse. It unexpectedly came galloping and prancing into one of the many ancient mountain villages. The White Horse was the most beautiful horse anyone from the mountains had ever seen. Truly, it was a magnificent animal to behold! And soon the villagers harnessed and bridled the fiery horse to make sure their gift from the storm did not escape from their village. |
