Living Waters!

 Examples and insights in nature abound everywhere and their teachings constantly display themselves for our understandings. Many religions, philosophies and various world faiths have directed their attentions to nature to express thought and inspire insight. Let us also learn how to observe nature and apply lessons that might instill lasting insight as this following example will do for us.

Two hundred miles northeast of Los Angeles is a baked out gorge called Death Valley; the lowest place in the United States, 276 feet below sea level. It is also the hottest place in the country, with an official recording of 134 degrees. Streams flow into Death Valley only to evaporate in the scorching heat, and a scant two and one half inches of rain falls on the barren wasteland each year.

But some years ago, an amazing thing happened. Due to a freak weather pattern, rain fell into the bone dry earth for nineteen days straight. Suddenly, millions of dormant seeds, which had lain dormant for untold years burst into bloom. The Valley of Death exploded into beauty, color, and life! That beautiful rain just might be likened unto our loving attitude towards our fellow humans, friends and family. It could be our thoughtfulness for a withered and warn life. It might turn out to be an effort to assist a needy soul or maybe even a peaceful word in the time of heat. This is the message of the Love in living waters!

Life and joy can spring forth from desperation and even from death. Through love, a desert of waste and desolation can become a garden of beauty. The beauty in love transcends death, desolation and suffering. Love overcomes hatred and life is made better by the refreshing waters of our LOVE!
