Due to family ties and a cultural background, our young American friend went to Armenia to find himself a special bride. In all good fortune and with great success he found himself a most wonderful young bride to be, the dream of his life. He would soon bring her home to America and marry her but first they had to fill out all the necessary migration papers to allow his bride to be, the legal right to depart her country. While visiting the American embassy this following story was made known. Our young American friend and his wife to be, were made to fill out all the correct migration forms and after completing this task, the clerk told them that it would be a while before they would be called for an interview and maybe they wanted to go upstairs to a waiting room where it was more comfortable. They decided this was a good idea and went and waited for the papers to be processed. There in the room stood a soda machine and a coke machine along with some other food dispensing machines. The young groom asked his young wife to be if she wanted a Pepsi or something to drink while they were waiting and she answered, "Sure." He gave her an American dollar and told her to just go over to the machine and put the dollar into the slot and the machine would give her a Pepsi. She went over and slipped the dollar into the slot and immediately the dollar came out. She put it in again and it came out without setting the machine into motion. She tried a few more times and then her helpful husband to be came over and took the dollar and showed her how it must be done. "See here, the Presidents picture," he showed her the picture of Washington and said, "you must first kiss the President three times, for he is a very esteemed man in America and the machine will not work unless you kiss his picture!" With this explanation he kissed the presidents picture three times and put the dollar into the machine and in a second, WHA-LA, a can of ice cold soda rolled down the shoot and he opened it up and handed it to her with a broad smile. She was taken back, stunned that someone would have to actually kiss a picture to get a soda and was hesitant in even drinking it, for this was not in her nature. But later the joking husband to be, told her the truth, "You just had the dollar bill upside down and it was necessary to put the picture upright into the machine, the kissing the president was only a joke on my part!" So now that they are married, and she knows the customs and language a lot better, she will make her husband kiss her three times before she will begin making dinner! Contact Author at: |
