The park had become a haven of play and pleasure for the citizens who took refuge among the many trees of great beauty. The snarled and twisted old trees were climbed by the youth, carved on by lovers, painted and photographed by artists and admired by everyone. Each tree by its nature of time held its own mystery but one alone, grew patiently and had waited more than two centuries, to yield its SECRETS OF THE PAST!

One bright and sunny day a young boy was running and playing hide-n-seek with his brother and climbed into the twisted arms of that one great tree. There he snuggled down into the snarls of the ancient trunks and wiggled himself into a deep notch, just perfect for a young boy. Whenever he peeped out from his hiding place, looking down upon his searching brother, he would push himself further into the hollow to avoid his brothers scanning eyes. There in the dark recesses of the ancient tree the youths eyes caught a glimpse of something shiny. The days light was filtering into a side hallow and his eyes adjusted to something tucked away inside the soul of this tree.

Out of curiosity he reached into the darkness letting his fingers grasp a cold metal shaft. Pulling it from the recesses of the hollow it became a long thin sword adorned with shiny stones. Reaching back again he discovered more treasures hidden away in hard leather satchels, awaiting his tiny grasp. Another deeper cavity was soon explored and was also packed with many unfamiliar objects. By the time they had emptied the hidden hallows they had accumulated several full satchels of small pouches and old metal objects, all unfamiliar to their youthful world.

Many tales of intrigue and various old legends began to unfold around the treasure in this new mysterious Park of extraordinary discovery.  The Park itself was known to have been a part of the Spanish explorers territory along with early settlers ranches; And it was later determined that all the objects were extremely valuable antiques and the stones were of exceptional quality from several centuries past. It was speculated that this treasure must have been placed into the hallow of the tree for safe keeping, either by bandits or by its owners.  There it had remained for over 200 years, under the noses of generations without discovery.

The many jewels, the precious stones, all the silver and gold coins along with many pure gold objects, were determined to be worth millions!  It was concluded that they had been part of an ancient Spanish treasure that had disappeared on route to the kings of another land.

The great discovery had excited the minds of the citizens to the point where every last tree had now been placed in jeopardy! Because everyone thought that further treasures were awaiting discovery, many wanted to cut them down in the mad search for riches.  The city officials placed guards throughout the Park and each tree was then searched for further booty. Sure enough, treasure was found but none so equal as that of the first rare find!

Life is full of surprises and these wonders might be experienced in the most unexpected means.  Did you realize that our Older people are like these wonderful trees in the park, each carrying with them a tremendous history?

History is a knowledge of the past, and a record of patterns and repeating circumstances. There in the hearts and minds of our Elderly Citizens,  may they be renowned or obscure, there might exist a treasure, far too wealthy for one soul to contain or fully understand!

We ourselves as individuals are linked together by community and bound to a lasting heritage.  Each family has been given a most BEAUTIFUL PARK, wherein exists a wondrous variety of assorted TREES!  In each of those trees there will exist a History, a great Book of Tales, Stories of Life and a record of Experience and each tree has its own individual character and  distinct qualities.

A tree is a self contained factory, which inter-acts with all of creation and exists for the well being of all humanity and the good of the ages. If a tree could talk it would tell us many tremendous stories, especially, if it had been around for many years. The tree is a most  extraordinary natural wonder  and carries with it a record of weather, environmental conditions, tests, rainfall, drought, soil conditions, memories of storms, scars of experiences and retains an inner witness of time and seasons…SO TOO WITH AN ELDER!

A tree in the park is wonderful, but a Wise and  Aged  Soul among his people is a RARE TREASURE FOR EVERYONE!

Parks are the homes of trees and there within, people will sometimes find more than just pleasure or diversion.  In one sprawling city there existed just such a park that once had been part of a historical ranch and had slowly been enveloped by the encroaching population. It now remained a patch of green, amidst the concrete jungle which imprisoned it. But there still remained a great variety of splendid old trees which had somehow proudly survived the years, dating back beyond the time of the earliest settlements of the area.
