How The Monkey Learned To Weave |

Once there was an old Arab weaver who bought a monkey with the intention of teaching it how to weave on his loom. The teacher tried over and over to get the monkey to work the loom. He used every trick in the book; kindness, goodness, bribery, incentive's, encouragement's, bananas and rewards but nothing seemed to work. No matter what he did, the monkey would not listen and showed no interest whatsoever in learning. After many days of patient instruction the monkey just kept turning its head away and played dumb. So the weaver tried something else. He brought in a lamb, and as the monkey looked on he tried to teach the lamb how to operate the loom. No matter what he did the lamb only baah-ed and baah-ed. So after great efforts and with much patients the man told the lamb that if it did not learn to work the loom he would be forced to really teach it a lesson…and with this he showed the lamb his knife. Still after more efforts, the lamb only sat there on the bench and baah-ed and baah-ed. Then the man arose and took the lamb off the bench and laid it out on the floor and right there in front of the monkey the man slew the lamb, as the monkey looked on with huge astonished eyes! Then the man told his servant to come and prepare the lamb for dinner and turned to the uncooperative monkey and asked it, "Well now, would you like to try one more time to work the loom?" Immediately, the monkey jumped down onto the bench and began pulling the handle of the loom and without great difficulty, the monkey learned to operate the loom, just as the man had tried to first teach it! Is there a moral to this tale? Of course; * Make sure that if you're a monkey, pay attention to the weaver! * How about "There's power in DIRECT LESSONS OF COMMUNICATION!" * Maybe, "Observation is a great incentive!" * Possibly, "There is more than one way to COMMUNICATE ones point!" * How about, "Watch and Learn or DIE!" * And last, "How to Influence others in accepting your IDEAS!" (Got any other messages you can add?) Note: Please take no offense with the actions of the weaver, or the idea of someone trying to use a monkey to weave, it's only a story…I think? No matter which message you want to attach to this story, it COMMUNICATES! For sure, this story is somewhat harsh, but bet you won't forget it so easy, and that was the intent of the Arab Teacher! Life tries so hard to teach us but we at the same time try so hard not to learn its lessons! Like it or not, we are students of life, and sorry to say, many of us will not graduate with honors. There are some that might attain some degree of intelligence from the on going lessons, and for some, there will arrive the opportunity to achieve top grades from the lessons of life, but not many! We first must come to a basic understanding that whatever life might be, it is first a "SERIOUS BUSINESS"! However we perceive "life" and proceed upon its path, we will not escape its endless lessons. From our cradles to our graves, the machine of life provides everything possible to enhance, alert and instruct our awareness to receive Knowledge from our experiences, ah but Wisdom, now that's beyond the ordinary human thought process! Yes, we can open our minds to ponder higher thoughts, possibly extracting the sweet scent from our observations , and allow them to teach us, or we can take on the roll of the stubborn monkey. Hopefully, our ability to grasp the lessons ultimate teaching, will develop early in our education and thereby lead us into wiser ways. In our new awareness to life, let us be always thankful for the lessons we have been taught by the kind and gentle voice of TIME, and hopefully our unseen instructor will not have to be so brutal in our on going education!
