The Missing House |

If you are in a normal family, or have ever been part of one then you will know that old trouble and familiar business of "something missing and something never found"!! This was the same for the Michael James family and their adventure with the Missing House! Oh yes, I say, the Missing House! Do you want to know the ULTIMATE PUNISHMENT for those who take things and never put them back…and then deny they ever touched it? It was the basic same old thing for the James family; a Papa and a Mama and four daughters and a few boys tossed in for some additional excitement and of course they were forever denying their part in the MISSING THING! "What things," you might ask? Well just the normal family items like shoes, clothes, cameras, sleeping bags, pillows, tools, dogs, keys, fishing poles and books. Within this ever evolving episode the parents of course became the hunters or the searchers of these many lost or misplaced items, because usually most of them belonged to him or to a project they were working on. They also had to become the mediators of peace when those personal items mysteriously disappeared from among the main culprits of missing items, and this was not an easy task. This was the norm, "No Dad, I didn't see it," and "Don't know what you're talking about, never saw it, never knew we had such a thing!" On and on with the investigation of where the toaster had gone to? If one got lucky they discovered within a week of teeth pulling investigation that it was sold for a buck at the neighbor's garage sale last week. Because someone needed the money fast, to replace that "lost thing" from the other week! Good old Dad continued to warn them, "One of these days this denial and continual misplacing and forgetting of important belongings of your father and mothers things will one day catch up to you, just wait and see!" The summer arrived and the James family had made plans for a two week stay at the beach. Even though most of their beach equipment had somehow been lost during the winter while just sitting on a shelf and of course no one knew where it had gone too, the trip itself finally took place. It was great, two full weeks away from home for a wonderful family time; even though brushes, towels, lotions, chips, tapes, two cameras and a years supply of beach sandals had disappeared the first week, all went well. The vacation ended with the normal complaints, sunburns, boy friend troubles and the station wagon was nearly void of most of the things that had been bought and taken to the beach house, oh well, what can one do with such a family? The trip home was uneventful and as they turned up the county road which took them to their rural house and turned into their driveway, Mom was the first to notice something very different about their house….IT WAS NOT THERE! "What do you mean Mom, the house is missing," young Sarah asked from the back as she set up and leaned over the seat to get a better look. A gasp and a scream came from Mom as she tried to sputter out the words again…"Really, it's gone…gone, the-the house is gone!" |

"Holy smoke" gasps and "Mother of missing things" were announced, as everyone piled out of the car and ran to the front porch steps which once led into the house…but sure enough, the house was not there, it was gone and I mean totally gone, finished, Ka-put-skz! The foundation was still there but the entire house itself was Vanished, Disappeared and No More! The first thing that Dad said, and he said it in a very stern and demanding voice, "Okay, I'm not kidding, I told you guys, I warned you all, now, Ok, which one of you lost the house?" |

After frantically calling the police and asking the neighbors what the heck had happened, the James family discovered that they were a victim of a House Moving Companies mistaken address! The house had been moved a week earlier and cut into three sections and then placed onto a lot for its placement upon a new foundation, ELSEWHERE! Is this Story True or Bull?
