Many times we are left or led to believe something based upon an implication or a reference pointing to a SHADOW WITHOUT A SOURCE. Implications could be dangerous to even the most innocent if they are used in the wrong way. They are a sly tool upon the tongue, written or passed on in some form, and those who might think they are safe from the dangers of ill directed "suggestion" might consider the power of "INFERENCE." |

In this day and age of self serving Politics, Superficial Religion, Ever Changing Philosophy, Number Bending, Fact Stretching, Unqualified Opinion and Nonsensical Idealism we might take precaution to also listen to what is NOT BEING SAID! It is known that in both Politics and in Advertising, facts and information are manipulated with great precision. Facts are specifically avoided to cast dark shadows and turn minds into directions for personal or financial gains. Our ears were made to hear but our minds were created to discern so may we learn to outsmart Tricky Implication, and to hear that which is NOT SAID! The following story might act as an example to this thought. There was an Executive Officer "Second in command" aboard a great ocean liner and this man was a very capable individual, always working and on top his job. He was a rather conservative man, well liked and not given to drink, smoke nor ill matters of immorality. He was a happily married man and while out to sea on a long journey, word arrived that his wife had given birth to twin boys and the officer was extremely happy. That evening some of his fellow officers gave a small party for their friends good fortune. Now the officer was toasted with champagne and not being a drinking man, sipped lightly but he became somewhat tipsy but far from anything else! The next morning while on the ships bridge he browsed the ships log (the LEGAL daily record kept by all officers WHILE ON DUTY) and there to his dismay and surprise he saw that the captain had entered into the records that his Executive Officer had been drunk the night before. In great displeasure the young officer complained to the captain that this was "NOT TRUE" and even though he had been a little tipsy for the first time in his life, he was not drunk and this entry into the log could effect his advancement. But the captain being somewhat jealous of this mans good fortune and a little hard headed, refused to change the record. Well now, a day or two went on by, and one morning the Captain was reading the ships log written by his Executive Officer from the night before and he was sorely dismayed to read the following entry made concerning his own actions, "Last night the captain was sober!"
