The village carelessly tolerated this misbehavior, thinking that the youth would one day  grow out of their rebellious attitude but instead, the youth began to spread their discontent among others and in time turned the village against itself.  There eventually came a season of burden upon the whole land and the youth of discontent began to exalt themselves, leading a rebellion against the Sovereign and his realm.  The rebellion was finally quenched and every rebel was put to the sword, WITHOUT MERCY!

However, the Sovereign was not finished, he dispatched forth his guard to the village where the uprising  had originated. His officers made inquiry on how such rebellion had come about and the report was returned to the Sovereign.  Then the King made his decision, and for the good of his realm the King Decreed! Thus, the King gave his harsh command unto his soldiers to return unto the village, and to "PLUCK OUT THE EYES OF ALL THE VILLAGERS, EVERY ONE OVER 12 YEARS OLD!"

The dead eyes of the villagers were then brought back in baskets to the Kings palace and piled to the height of a man in front of the entry gates! This tragic and fearful sight stood there as a monument, for the benefit of all the citizens of the land to personally gaze upon as a stern lesson!

The news of this dreadful event spread throughout all the land and far beyond. The horror of this decision struck lasting fear into all the hearts of the subjects. From that day forward, each and every village took wise precaution to prevent and eliminate, the least sign of discontent. When rebellion, in any form reared its head the villagers took concern to deal with it personally and immediately, hoping the Sovereign would not hear of it.

The parents themselves were moved with great fear to make sure that their children were kept busy, and poor attitudes were corrected and each child was firmly taught the values of the community. Out of the Kings harsh decision, there grew a new discipline among the people and a new effort came about, all for the good of the entire land!

As the terrifying lesson in the mound of melting eyes took its full effect across all the land, the Sovereign then commanded his artists to sculpture an exact replica of the horrifying image in stone. This sculpture was then placed there in the entry gates of the Kings Palace, remaining there as a lasting memorial unto all generations who might consider rebellion!

Even though there were many who were innocent, the entire village was held accountable for allowing this discontent to corrupt and contaminate others. Therefore, the Sovereigns extreme lesson was placed fully upon all the villagers because they were found "GUILTY BY ASSOCIATION!"

By this stern measure the discerning Sovereign had held the entire village accountable.   Thereafter eliminating any and all future rebellion to take root among the people!

Henceforth the younger children of the rebellious village had to then carry the long lasting burden of foolishness, by having to care for all those who had been blinded and were now rendered into beggars.  Even though the villagers suffered much, the entire population was made stronger by their new self disciplining prudence. Thereafter, a lasting stability grew throughout the concerned land. In time the Sovereign died but many of the blind villagers lived far into the next rulers reign, carrying with them the harsh lesson which lived on in the hearts of all the citizens!

This frightful King knew that one harsh lesson could do more good than an occupying army and his judgement proved to be most effective. We might not go as far as the Monarch, but if we were to take the time to at least examine how we actually view surrounding events and circumstances, we might become more aware of their potential dangers to our personal lives and to our community.  Human nature is very good at spreading its discontent among others and if it not be checked, an entire nation could be left to wander blind, in the wilderness of suffering, like so many past kingdoms have already done!

Long ago far off in a distant land there existed an ancient Kingdom, ruled by a stern and discerning King.  Over the years the citizens lived in peace and prospered well, and they were happy with their lives.  Then in one village, there arose several youths who grew UNRULY to all authority and became DISOBEDIENT among the villagers.
