There once was a simple peasant man of ordinary character who lived and struggled alongside his village neighbors and friends, trying to exist and fulfill a peaceful life. One day news arrived from far away, that his old loving father had died but he lived to far away for the son to attend the funeral. Everyone gathered with the sorrowful man to grieve, and decided, "That this was very BAD!" In time relatives brought a very fine horse of great cost and fine breeding, left to the son by his father. All the villagers and neighbors gathered in delight with him to celebrate his good fortune and they declared, "That this was very GOOD!" Now as time went on, the wonderful horse ran away, leaving the young man very stricken with grief over his great loss and all the villagers and friends gathered with him to partake in his sorrows and they decided that this was a great loss and, "That this was very BAD!" Then one day the horse from out of nowhere returned, bringing with it many other fine stray horses. Once again all the villagers, relatives and friends came from everywhere to feast and celebrate the mans good fortune and they all declared, "How GOOD this was!" As time went by the mans heard increased and his name grew in recognition and he became rich and everyone celebrated with him, rejoicing and announcing, "That this was very GOOD!" Then one day the King of the land heard about the mans most beautiful horses and ordered his soldiers to go investigate and if the horses were as good as everyone was saying, they were to be brought to the Kings stables. The soldiers came and looked for themselves and saw that the horses, in deed, were very good. Beyond all the mans protests the soldiers led away all the fine horses, except for his two best ones which were grazing off in a distant valley. His loss was surely great and all the villagers came together to weep with him and they all proclaimed, "That this was very BAD!" Then in the next season the mare which had been left behind gave birth to a most wondrous colt, more beautiful that any other of his horses. Again the villagers, relatives and friends came together to celebrate their friends good fortune and during the feasting they sang out, "How GOOD this was!" Word got back to the King about the mans best horses being left behind, so the soldiers came and beat the man and took away his best horses, but never knew of the young growing colt. The villagers wept for the man and murmured, "This was very BAD!" Then one day the feisty young colt in its zeal, kicked the mans only son and broke his leg. Again, all the villagers came together and wept and cried for the boy who lay helpless with a broken leg. Everyone cried out, "That this was very BAD!" Then on another day the King led his army into war against his ancient foe, and all young men were called to the battle and this was very BAD for all the people. Yet, when the soldiers came to get all the young men, they left the mans son behind because he had a broken leg. The villagers and relatives gathered with the man and his son and announced his good fortune saying, "That this event was very GOOD!" Many young men never returned from the war and this was very BAD for all the village! Yet the young man grew up to be a very fine horseman, possessing only the best stock and he lived a long and prosperous life with his father and friends and he declared, "All this to be very GOOD!" ******* Certainly, this story could go on but I will conclude here…and Life is just like this "GOOD from BAD" and "BAD from GOOD!" Sometimes, even though we look at things to be unpleasant or not what we expected, they turn out to be for our GOOD. And sometimes we hope for times to be better but they might turn out to be painful! |

Good or Bad? |
As much as we would like, there is NO GUARANTEE that Life will be GOOD or FAIR to anyone! Sometimes better things are long in coming, slow in their revelation and by our own understanding they might not ever arrive in time. Even though we possess no ULTIMATE power to establish or control good for our lives we do have the power of choice in how we respond to each individual event which arrives to greet us.What we think to be GOOD, BEST or BETTER for our lives, might be the worst possible thing for our ultimate well being. It takes a special ability to walk the path of Life and to be able to accept "good" in its proper place and to also deal with those things that are "not so good!" The question is, how do we attain that ability? |
Well now, this thing about attaining "The Ability" Couldn't this be "GOOD" or maybe this could be "NOT SO GOOD"… COULDN'T IT?" |
