Two Minds are Better Than One
While living away from home, a young man got into a financial tangle by loaning a friend in another town 500 dollars without the benefit of a written note. Being young and inexperienced, he didn't even think or ask for a receipt, indicating the amount loaned. After arriving home and time had passed and when the young man finally needed his money, he realized he had nothing to document his claim. He wondered and pondered for many days on how he might go about retrieving his needed money, but attained no answer. In desperation he consulted his father. After a moment of consideration, the father said, "Oh dear son, that's easy, just write him and say you need the 800 dollars you loaned him!" The young bewildered man said, "Father, you mean 500 dollars!" "No son," said the father. "You say 800 dollars and he will immediately write back, that he owes you only 500 dollars! Then you will have it in writing!" "Umm, I see," the now wiser son declared!
One of the lessons in the story is that, TWO HEADS ARE BETTER THAN ONE! Sharing your problems with someone else often brings a faster solution to the dilemma. Two is a good number to start with, don't be afraid to seek assistance in answers, just be wise in who you seek your council from!
